Activities
The Muslim Women’s Collective’s current work plan is to deliver a number of activities covering environmental training, community health, strengthening families through working with parents and adolescents and sports coaching. These activities have been funded from a number of income streams including the Working Neighbourhoods Fund.
The Collective is now seeking to raise funds to ensure that a viable and sustainable non-profit business can be set up, with a small core of dedicated employees who will support the Collective’s members in completing the current work plan and in identifying new initiatives which both sustain the business and meet the needs of service users and the Tower Hamlets community.
The Collective is now actively undertaking the following workstreams:
- Engaging in fundraising activities to sustain both the Collective and its Business Units
- Building the capacity of smaller third sector organisations in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and other local authorities which represent and work with Muslim women
- Directly employing and representing through its business unit ‘Pioneering Women Limited’, Muslim and non-Muslim women living in the Tower Hamlets area and
- Developing a model of a sustainable Collective that can be replicated via a consultancy support service to other local authorities throughout the UK
