This process additionally allows for reinforcement and heat-retention. In cold regions such as Tohoku district, it’s been used for regular clothes as well as fie costumes during the Edo period.
This model, less formal than the mon tsuki haori (the one with the familly emblem) is not designed to be worn over a Kimono but over a Dogi. It's a great jacket to wear over a light Aikidogi or over our Waraku Iaidogi if you keep wearing your uniform off the mats or over a Samue.
